Indian Preference: Preferential consideration for employment will be given to persons of documented Navajo, American Indian, or Alaskan Native Tribal membership who meet the qualifications.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Fluent in both written and oral English Language (minimum Grade 6 on the TABE test)
- Fluent in oral Navajo Language (screened through the interview process)
- Training related to English, Writing, Communications, or related communications area
- One-year experience in radio broadcast field
- One or more years’ successful experience working in a broadcast station as producer
Responsibilities
- Support and efficiently carry out responsibilities in accordance with Alamo Navajo Schools Board, Inc. Policies and Procedures
- Represent Alamo Navajo School Board, Inc. professionally to enhance community understanding of the program
- Protect the confidentiality of students and personnel information
- Maintain high personal standards of professional and ethical conduct
- Stay informed on current educational topics and advancements
- Perform duties aligned with the commitments of ANSB, Inc. to funding agencies
- Deal with funding agency personnel only through the supervisory chain of command
- Perform broadcast announcing and program production services, including:
- Collecting and writing daily community news reports and announcing the news in Navajo and English
- Conducting on-air interviews at the studio or through remote broadcasts
- Recording daily feeds of selected programming via satellite, telephone, or other telecommunication systems
- Maintaining the tape, records, and cart library
- Recording incoming and outgoing FCC signals
- Engineering shows and following the program schedule, keeping listeners informed
- Producing public service announcements and KABR IDs
- Taking phone calls and accurate messages
- Producing local programming on a weekly basis
- Assisting in the promotion of the radio station, its programs, and enlistment of underwriters
- Represent the program to clients and the public in a manner that reflects credit to ANSB, Inc.
- Provide professional growth through ongoing reading and training as scheduled
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
