Anesthesia Veterinary Coordinator

  • Coordinate and oversee the daily anesthesia schedule to ensure the efficient utilization of staff, equipment, and hospital resources while supporting exceptional patient care.
  • Collaborate with all specialty departments to organize the workflow of anesthetic procedures and ensure cases progress efficiently throughout the day.
  • Serve as the primary communication liaison for the anesthesia department, facilitating communication between clinical teams and providing updates on procedure status, scheduling changes, and patient needs while fostering a positive culture.
  • Monitor hospital workflow and proactively address scheduling conflicts, delays, and operational challenges while adjusting priorities as patient care demands change.
  • Absorb emergent anesthetic cases and modify schedules to accommodate urgent and critical patients.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff and help ensure timely completion of anesthetic procedures.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of anesthetic protocols to promote safe, effective, and consistent patient care.
  • Perform blood collection procedures, submit laboratory samples, and assist with patient preparation for anesthetic procedures.
  • Provide safe and effective animal restraint for blood draws, IV catheter placement, intubation, radiographs, and other patient care procedures.
  • Maintain inventory levels for anesthesia-related supplies and equipment; place orders, track deliveries, and communicate delays or backorders to the Clinical Manager.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, patient care processes, and departmental operations.
  • Demonstrate strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills while working effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) preferred.
  • Prior veterinary experience required; previous anesthesia experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of veterinary anesthesia, patient monitoring, perioperative patient care, physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Strong leadership, delegation, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and clinical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, patient needs, and hospital demands, including the ability to work additional hours when necessary.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care, client service, and support to fellow team members.
