About the Department
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) centers equity, diversity, and inclusion in advancing the health and well-being of California’s diverse people and communities. The Human Resources Division (HRD) partners with CDPH programs and management to provide guidance on Human Resources matters essential to delivering quality public health services. The Disability Management Section (DMS) assists employees, supervisors, and managers with employee leave programs, return-to-work options, and the Employee Assistance Program. The team is based in downtown Sacramento, across from the Capitol Park Rose Garden.
Responsibilities
- Assist employees, supervisors, and managers in applying employee leave programs, including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Non-Industrial Disability Insurance (NDI), State Disability Insurance (SDI), Parental Leave (PL), medical Leave of Absence (LOA), catastrophic leave (CL), and the Reasonable Accommodation (RA) program.
- Provide direction, consultation, and guidance on Workers’ Compensation (WC) case management, return-to-work processes, vocational rehabilitation, leave restoration, and related WC program areas.
- Assess RA requests and apply Departmental policy, State and Federal rules, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), to counsel employees and management on compliance requirements.
- Research and interpret labor code provisions, CalOSHA rules, ADA, and related regulations to provide consultation to employees, program designees, and managers/supervisors.
Pay
Monthly salary range: $6,623.00 - $8,290.00. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification. This position is subject to the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, which temporarily reduces the monthly base pay by 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary range shown does not reflect this reduction.
