Duties
- Provide administrative and analytical skills and support to the twenty-three attorneys within the Public Health Programs (PHP) team.
- Contribute to varied and complex projects, cases, programs, or assignments pertaining to litigation and house counsel legal matters for the entire Department.
- Support CDPH and its programs in working to protect and improve the health of Californians.
- Manage and coordinate administrative tasks related to the PHP team's legal matters.
- Assist in the preparation of legal documents, reports, and other materials as needed.
- Participate in meetings and discussions with attorneys and other stakeholders to gather information and provide insights.
- Collaborate with other departments and external partners to ensure compliance with legal requirements and policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of relevant experience in a legal or administrative support role.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of legal terminology and concepts.
Qualifications
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as law, public policy, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in a legal environment or similar administrative support role.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws relevant to public health.
- Experience with legal research and analysis.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction due to the implementation of the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. The salary range for this position is $3,861.00 - $4,839.00 A, $4,181.00 - $5,233.00 B, and $5,014.00 - $6,276.00 C. Employees may also be eligible for health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits offered by the State of California.
