About the role
This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by supporting the daily operational functions of administration and personnel that ensure timely, efficient, and compliant delivery of public health laboratory services.
Responsibilities
- Acting as the Personnel Liaison (PL) and backup Attendance Coordinator (AC) for the Division of Environmental Health Laboratories (DEHL) and Center;
- Tracking personnel movement within the Division;
- Facilitating hires, tracking and monitoring leave, completing drills related to CDPH’s Human Resources Division (HRD);
- Creating personnel reports and correspondence;
- Aiding in resolving employee benefit problems;
- Serving as backup to other Unit analysts in personnel needs.
Requirements
- Supports the daily operational functions of administration and personnel;
- Utilizes Microsoft Office Applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint;
- Works under the direction of the Supervisor I, Administrative Operations Unit in the Center for Laboratory Sciences, Business Operations Branch.
Qualifications
- Experience with Human Resource, personnel or recruitment duties;
- Extensive administrative experience;
- Experience working with internal/external stakeholders;
- Ability to develop and manage complex administrative projects;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; excellent listening skills;
- Ability to be receptive to feedback and apply constructive input to improve the quality and effectiveness of work products.
Skills
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency;
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively;
- Knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
Benefits
The position is subject to Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, which temporarily reduces employees' monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
Pay
$6,031.00 - $7,547.00 per Month
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
