About the role

The District Human Resources Liaison (HRL) provides district management and supervisory staff with guidance on routine personnel and labor-relations matters, as well as on the interpretation and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the District’s primary FMLA and Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Liaison, offering expert support to managers, supervisors, and employees on the full scope of FMLA/RA processes and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and required timelines.
  • Works closely with the Office of Discipline Services to coordinate the service of adverse actions and to schedule Skelly and Coleman hearings, including the preparation and distribution of all required documentation.
  • Serves as Chief Proctor for district examinations, ensuring adherence to civil service rules, examination security procedures, and departmental protocols.
  • Affords assistance to employees with matters related to hiring, benefits, pay, leave balances, and other personnel-related inquiries.
  • Serves as the district’s customer service representative for resolving HR-related issues, demonstrating professionalism, a positive attitude, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Develops and delivers training on a variety of Human Resources topics for district supervisors and managers, which may include FMLA/CFRA, Reasonable Accommodation, personnel procedures, and supervisory responsibilities.
  • May travel to other district offices to support broader DHR functions.

Must possess the minimum qualifications as outlined in the Classification Specification.

Qualifications

Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at various levels of an organization, including staff, supervisors, and management.

Skills

Knowledge of Reasonable Accommodation and FMLA processes, as well as the ability to manage confidential or sensitive HR issues.
