Analyst I

California’s Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) brings together the state’s recycling and waste management programs to move the state towards a circular economy that reduces waste and reuses all materials. Through landmark initiatives like the Integrated Waste Management Act and Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act, California works toward a society that uses less, recycles more, and takes resource conservation to higher and higher levels.

About the role

Limited term position for up to 24 months, may become permanent. This position performs professional work associated with the registration of beverage manufacturers and distributors. The incumbent will review, analyze, and process detailed technical forms related to registration, product determinations, and California Redemption Value message label compliance. The Analyst I will provide detailed program information and directions to public inquiries and gather, research, and analyze data to ensure outreach and education is provided to all potential program participants.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.

Beginning July 1, 2026, CalRecycle staff will be office-centered, requiring employees to report to the office at least four days per week. This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense.

Requirements

• Familiarity with database software such as Oracle, Access, or similar programs.
• Strong communication skills with professionalism and tact.
• Self-driven, customer-focused, and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Pay

• Range A: $3,861.00 - $4,839.00 per month
• Range B: $4,181.00 - $5,233.00 per month
• Range C: $5,014.00 - $6,276.00 per month

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Schedule

• Full-time, 12-month limited term position.
• Hybrid telework may be eligible, with a requirement to report to the office at least four days per week beginning July 1, 2026.
