AmeriCorps STEM Specialist - Beaver County

Schedule

The AmeriCorps STEM Specialist will spend about 12-15 hours each week assisting with hands-on, informal STEM education of the Boys & Girls Club. The schedule is approximately Monday through Thursday from 2-6 PM from mid August 2026 to end of May 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide STEM education: Lead STEM lessons during the time allocated each week
• Maintain records of lesson plans and track data for the number of students served
• Complete weekly timesheets and a monthly report
• Evaluate progress of youth served using surveys & rubrics
• Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes: Build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, and your teammates; Promote and stimulate program participation; Provide guidance and role modeling to members; Ensure members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s). Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members.
• Program Development and Implementation: Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for all members and visitors. Monitor and evaluate program services and activities. Oversee member safety, program quality, and appearance of the organization at all times.
• Supervision: Supervise and ensure safety during indoor and outdoor activities (rain or shine). Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly organization staff meetings.

Additional Responsibilities

• May participate in special programs and/or events
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and all grant required training

Skills/Knowledge Required

• 18+ years of age
• United States citizen or legal permanent resident
• High school diploma or GED
• Meet the requirements set by the Corporation for National and Community Service
• Experience in working with children
• Knowledge of youth development
• Motivated youth and manage behavior problems
• Ability to work with the school and general public
• Plan and implement quality programs for youth
• Organize and supervise members in a safe environment
• CPR and First Aid Certifications may be required
• Valid State Driver's License
• Preference will be given to individuals with educational or work experience related to science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, and/or education.
