About the role
CEO of the Alumni Association strengthens alumni engagement and generates sustainable revenue for the Institute by managing approximately 20 curated trips annually. These trips combine faculty expertise, distinctive educational content, and carefully designed MIT experiences that reinforce alumni connection to the Institute. The role balances alumni relations, financial sustainability, operational excellence, educational impact, and risk management as core priorities, while identifying opportunities to expand participation, reach, and revenue.
Responsibilities
- Manage approximately 20 curated alumni trips annually, integrating faculty expertise and educational content.
- Balance alumni relations, financial sustainability, operational excellence, educational impact, and risk management.
- Identify opportunities to expand participation, reach, and revenue for the travel program.
- Oversee international travel logistics and compliance with regulations.
- Manage budgets and financial forecasting for program sustainability.
- Collaborate across diverse stakeholders to ensure program success.
- Utilize CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), data analysis tools, and other technology platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of four years of professional experience in program or operations management in a service-oriented field, preferably in the travel industry, hospitality, or event management.
- Knowledge of international travel logistics and regulations.
- Proven success managing programs or operations for a service-oriented organization.
- Sound judgement, discretion, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective while managing complex, sensitive, and time-sensitive situations.
- Strong financial acumen and comfort with budget management and financial forecasting.
- Excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency with technology platforms, including CRM systems (Salesforce), data analysis tools, Microsoft Office, and web-based applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with survey/analytics platforms, such as Qualtrics.
- Experience with budget management software and databases.
- Familiarity with educational programming and adult learning principles.
- Experience in higher education, the nonprofit sector, or alumni relations.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally occasionally.
Schedule
This is a hybrid position with a combination of on-campus and remote work.
