About the role

This position is available as a Weekend Shift Composite Technician at DAS Aviation.

Responsibilities

• Repairs parts/components by means of "Wet Layup" and "Prepreg".
• Facilitates repairs using a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave or controlled oven.
• Utilizes various composite bonding methods including: co-curing, co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, with adhesives in liquid form, and film.
• Uses close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.).
• Uses hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.).
• Aligns and assembles components using jigs, templates, and fixtures.
• Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing tasks that require it.
• Uses a "Hot-Bonder" type machine for curing procedures.
• Maintains and cleans shop facilities, equipment, and tooling.
• Safely operates shop equipment such as curing ovens, autoclaves, and vacuums.
• Navigates electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.

• Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
  • Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as composite technician.
  • Master: 5+ years’ experience as a composite technician.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
  • Complies with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Maintains customer-oriented work habits.
  • Lifts up to 50 lbs.
  • Performs routine walking, bending, squatting, and sitting.
  • Works in small restricted areas.
  • Stands for long periods of time.
  • Understands and implements regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots or evaluates system operations.
  • Works professionally with others.
  • Works under supervision of assigned Team Leader.
  • Works in multiple departments including Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelles, Composite.
