About the role

This position involves repairing parts/components through "Wet Layup" and "Prepreg" methods. Repairs may require a clean room and use of an autoclave or controlled oven. The technician will use various bonding methods including co-curing, co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, and adhesives. Essential tasks include using close tolerance measuring tools, hand tools, aligning components, and operating machinery like curing ovens and autoclaves.

Responsibilities

  • Repair parts/components using "Wet Layup" and "Prepreg" methods.
  • Facilitate repairs in a clean room using an autoclave or controlled oven.
  • Utilize bonding methods such as co-curing, co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, and adhesives.
  • Use close tolerance measuring tools and hand tools for repairs.
  • Operate machinery like curing ovens and autoclaves.
  • Maintain shop facilities, equipment, and tooling.
  • Communicate effectively (speaking, writing, reading) in English.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Lifts up to 50 lbs.
  • Walks, bends, squats, sits, climbs ladders, works in small spaces, stands for long periods.
  • Uses personal hand tools, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
  • Works in controlled environments in industrial warehouses.
  • Works in multiple departments including Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelles, Composite.
  • Understands and implements regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots or evaluates system operation.
  • Works professionally with others.
  • Works under supervision of assigned Team Leader.

Qualifications

  • A High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome.
  • A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Skills

  • Close tolerance measuring tools (scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages).
  • Hand tools (drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools).
  • Alignment/assembly using jig, templates, and fixtures.
  • PPE for cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding.
  • Bagging materials for a variety of component shapes and styles.
  • Hot-bonder type machine cure procedures.
  • Basic computer skills for navigating electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Effective communication (speaking, writing, reading) in English.
