Responsibilities
- Repairs parts/components by means of "Wet Layup" and "Prepreg".
- Facilitates repairs using a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave or controlled oven.
- Utilizes various composite bonding methods including: co-curing, co-bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, with adhesives in liquid form, and film.
- Uses close tolerance measuring tools (i.e., scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.).
- Operates hand tools (i.e., drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.).
- Aligns and assembles components using jig, templates, and fixtures.
- Wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing tasks that involve cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding.
- Uses bagging materials for a wide range of component shapes and styles.
- Applies "Hot-Bonder" type machine cure procedures.
- Maintains and cleans shop facilities, equipment, and tooling when required.
- Safely operates shop equipment such as: curing oven, autoclave, vacuum.
- Navigates electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
Requirements
- A High school diploma or equivalent.
- Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome.
- A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
- Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as composite technician.
- Master: 5+ years’ experience as a composite technician.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Attends work every day as scheduled; able to work overtime as workflow permits.
- Notifies supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
- Reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
- Works in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
- Follows all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
- Maintains customer-oriented work habits.
Qualifications
- Lifts 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
- Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
- Climbs ladders and stairs.
- Standing for long periods of time.
