AGRIntelligence Technician

About the role

As an AGRIntelligence Technician, you will train and assist the location team in the implementation and use of precision agriculture technologies, including field data collection and analysis. Responsibilities encompass soil sampling, Electrical Conductivity (EC) data collection, yield monitoring technical assistance, use of AGRIntelligence 360, telemetry systems and software, and other connected devices that facilitate communication between devices and AGRIntelligence 360. This role also includes farm data collection, data analysis, and data delivery as assigned by the Branch Manager or AGRIntelligence Specialist. This position is part of Helena's trademarked AGRIntelligence program, designed to guide growers' business decisions and identify potential field problems before they escalate.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate new digital farming and information management services and technologies.
• Review and perform quality control on AGRIntelligence products created for customers.
• Deliver, communicate, and present products and services to customers with the assistance of the sales team.
• Assist the sales team with selling, positioning, delivery, and presentation of products and services, allowing Sales Representatives to lead and manage customer accounts.
• Ensure products and services meet company standards and requirements.
• Communicate and interact regularly with the Branch Manager, sales team, field support, and other AGRIntelligence team members to meet customer deadlines and expectations.
• Provide technical training and support to the Helena team and customers using AGRIntelligence branded products/services, AGRIntelligence 360, and related products/services.
• Serve as the primary source for all field work such as soil sampling, tissue sampling, EC data collection, and setting field boundaries.
• Act as the liaison between the branch, Sales Representatives, sales support team, AGRIntelligence Specialist, Product Manager, and Agronomist in all matters related to AGRIntelligence services.
• Assist the branch in other service-related sales such as seed treating.
• Perform and facilitate teaching activities on the use of GIS, GPS-related field and agronomy-related software, and office software.
• Analyze gathered field data to determine field management strategies and make field and crop recommendations based on this data.
• Ensure work and follow-up are completed on all AGRIntelligence offerings sold by Helena.
• Train and assist the location team with precision farming activities, including gathering soil samples using GIS technology and training in the use of electrical conductivity equipment (e.g., Veris, Dualem, EM38).
• Serve as the key contact for hardware and software issues, providing troubleshooting assistance to locations and farmers for precision agriculture software and hardware components.
• Communicate market intelligence and competitive threats to Business Unit leadership.
• Ensure all data collected through job functions are safely and securely transferred to the Field Support Center for timely processing.
• Assist and support the installation of precision agriculture equipment such as VR hardware, yield monitors, telemetry hardware/software, and other IoT equipment, computers, and software at locations, in farmers' fields, and in application equipment.
• Encourage thorough data collection among users and customers of the AGRIntelligence system to prepare for future opportunities and offerings.
• Drive a company vehicle as required.
• Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned by your leader.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or associate's degree is required. One year of related work experience is required. Candidates without a degree but with three years of related work experience will be considered.
• General understanding of geography, GIS, GPS systems, and other agronomy-related software.
• Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read, write, and speak in English is required; communicating in Spanish is a valuable asset.
• Ability to travel by various means up to 25-30% or less.
• Valid U.S. driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle; must meet all company requirements to drive a Helena vehicle.
• Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required.

Work Environment & Physical Aspects

At Helena, safety is the highest priority. The work environment for this position includes both office settings and outdoor conditions in all types of weather, with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and around moving equipment/mechanical parts, you may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations, and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires:

• Use of hands for various tasks, including talking, hearing, walking, standing, sitting (8 hours a day or more).
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling (up to and including 50 lbs or more).
• Reaching overhead (up to and including 25 lbs).
• Climbing, gripping, grasping, and twisting using hands and wrists.
• Bending and stooping for long periods.
• Working below knee level and above shoulder level for short periods.
