After School Care /Child Care (18+ years old)

About the Role

Explore being an After School Care Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year at Holy Spirit Elementary. Responsibilities

• Assist the leader with planning and implementing activities that promote cognitive, social/emotional, language, physical, and self-help growth in a positive environment.
• Provide and maintain a safe environment for children.
• Understand and apply child development principles to various situations.
• Use a positive and preventative approach to discipline, including redirection, setting positive limits, clearly stating expectations, encouragement, and praise.
• Provide choices and allow children to problem-solve, reserving "time out" for when children need to regain control rather than as punishment.
• Effectively model ways of handling anger and frustration through reinforced positive behavior.
• Supervise and interact with children during activities.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Maintain effective communication with parents.
• Promote teamwork and maintain good rapport with all staff.
• Sanitize toys on a regular basis.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Previous child care experience preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills beneficial.
• Ability to comprehend policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Mobility required, including setting up and taking down tables and participating in activities with children.
• High energy, flexible, and adaptable.
• Must be able to operate all equipment utilized in a childcare center.

Pay

Base pay is $16.00/hr, with potential increases based on experience.

Schedule

After School: 2:45pm - 6:00pm, no late nights or weekends.
