2026-2027 After School Care /Child Care (18+ years old)

About the Role

This position supports the planning and implementation of activities that promote cognitive, social/emotional, language, physical, and self-help growth in a positive environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the leader with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
• Provide and maintain a safe environment for children.
• Apply child development principles to real-life situations.
• Use a positive and preventative approach to discipline, including redirection, setting positive limits, clearly stating expectations, encouragement, and praise.
• Offer choices and allow children to problem-solve; reserve “time out” for regaining control rather than punishment.
• Model healthy ways of handling anger and frustration through reinforced positive behavior.
• Supervise and actively engage with children during activities.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Communicate effectively with parents.
• Promote teamwork and maintain good rapport with all staff.
• Sanitize toys on a regular basis.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Previous child care experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills beneficial.
• Ability to comprehend and apply policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Mobility required; must be able to set up/take down tables and participate in activities with children.
• High energy, flexible, and adaptable.
• May be exposed to infectious disease, blood, and body fluids.
• Familiarity with operating equipment utilized in a childcare center.

Schedule

After School: 2:45 pm – 6:00 pm at all locations.
