Location/Schedule: All Schools: 2:45pm-6:00pm Responsibilities Responsible for assisting the leader with planning and implementation of activities that promote cognitive, social/emotional, language, physical, and self-help growth in a positive environmentProvide and maintain a safe environment for children. Understand and apply child development to situationsUse a positive and preventative approach to discipline: redirection, setting positive limits, clearly stating expectations, encouragement and praise. Provide choices, allow children to problem solve, etc. Reserve the use of “time out” for when children need to regain control instead of a punishmentEffectively model ways of handling anger and frustration through reinforced positive behaviorSupervise and interact during activitiesMaintain privacy and confidentiality at all timesMaintain effective communication with parentsMaintain good rapport and promote teamwork with all the staffSanitize toys on a regular basis Qualifications Previous child care experience preferredStrong interpersonal skills beneficialMust be able to comprehend policies, procedures and guidelinesMobility requiredWill be required to set up and take down tables and to participate in activities with childrenHigh energy, flexible, and adaptableMay be exposed to infectious disease, blood and body fluidsMust be familiar with and able to operate all equipment utilized in a childcare center Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools is a Preschool-12 school system.
