About the Role
The Urgent Care APP (NP or PA) is responsible for the provision of health care services to individuals, families, and/or groups who receive their care under the auspices of Sentara Medical Group (SMG). Health care services are provided under the direction and supervision of the assigned physician(s) (collaborative agreement).
Responsibilities
- Conducting health assessments
- Prescribing/providing treatments/interventions
- Performing occupational medicine regulatory exams
- Performing procedures in a walk-in Urgent Care center
- Participating in quality assurance and improvement activities
- Engaging in member of the team activities
- Using resources (human and material) appropriately
- Maintaining continuing education credits as prescribed by licensing body and SMG
- Maintaining prescriptive authority
- Acquiring special clinical competencies as required by the group
- Participating in quality assurance and utilization management activities
- Assisting with risk management functions
Schedule & Shifts
- 14 or 16 shifts per month
- Scheduling flexibility
- 8 or 12-hour shifts (depending on day of week)
- Weekends, evenings, holidays required
- Flexibility to move between regional Urgent Care locations at the direction of administration
Requirements
- Master's Level Degree
- NP or PA Certification/Licensure
- NP/PA State License
- DEA
- DOT- Department of Transportation (certification required before starting)
- BLS
- ACLS
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a practicing provider in an urgent, immediate, or emergency care setting
- National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) — expectation to complete within 30 days of employment
- Prescriptive Authority-VA staff only
- Ability to work independently, under direct or indirect supervision
- Astute situational awareness and ability to move quickly without compromising quality or customer service
