Advanced Practice Provider - Urgent Care

Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health is part of the Orlando Health system of care, which includes award-winning hospitals and ERs, specialty institutes, urgent care centers, primary care practices, and outpatient facilities across Florida, Central Alabama, and Puerto Rico. Our urgent care locations offer basic lab work, EKG testing, X-rays, full X-ray suites, and basic lab capabilities for prompt diagnosis and treatment of unexpected injuries or illnesses.

Schedule

• 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• 14 shifts per month
• Includes 2 weekends per month and holidays
• Will be working at both locations:
  • 2352 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Wesley Chapel, Florida 33544
  • 38021 Market Square Drive, Zephyrhills, Florida 33542

Responsibilities

• Acts as an advanced resource for specialty area or lead worker in a clinic setting.
• Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to diagnose medical and surgical problems, prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
• Operates with a high degree of independence in providing patient care services with minimal physician supervision, typically in a specialized clinical area.
• Assists in teaching students, residents, and interns in complex techniques and procedures unique to the specialized clinical setting.
• Uses advanced skills and in-depth clinical knowledge to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for clients across the continuum.
• Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients through interviews, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies.
• Documents reports and progress notes appropriately in the medical record.
• Recognizes deviations from normal in physical assessments and collaborates to formulate treatment plans.
• Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessments, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission, and discharge care.
• Performs detailed history and physical examinations, documenting inpatient H&P, discharge summaries, and clinical notes (must be reviewed and countersigned by supervising medical staff within 24 hours).
• Initiates actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans consistent with patients' continuing healthcare needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients served.
• Provides a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
• Demonstrates awareness of legal issues and patients' rights.
• Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to improve care quality.
• Dictates and documents accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintains provision of preventive health services.
• Conducts or participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
• Triages patients.
• Shares clinical expertise with professional and supportive personnel and collaborates with other healthcare disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Requirements

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MN, MSN, DNP, PhD, DNS) or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Florida ARNP license or Physician Assistant licensure in the state of Florida.
• National advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board or nationally certified by the NCCPA for Physician Assistants.
• Current BLS certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Department (ED) setting, with at least 2 years as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in an urgent care setting.
• Competent in treating children aged 6 months and older and working independently.
