Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor in Finance (R0009091)

About the Role

The Wake Forest University School of Business is seeking qualified candidates for an advanced Assistant (i.e., at least three years post PhD) or Associate Professor of Finance. The intended start date is July 1, 2027, or as negotiated.

Ideal candidates will have exceptional records in teaching and scholarship and will be expected to publish unequivocal top-tier and high-quality academic research as well as teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Finance in multiple modalities.

• Preferred candidates at the advanced Assistant Professor level will have at least one finance publication in an FT50 outlet plus several other high-quality publications, in addition to a strong pipeline of working papers with some under review and/or at the R&R stage.
• Preferred candidates at the Associate Professor level will have several finance publications in FT50 outlets plus several publications in high-quality outlets, in addition to a strong pipeline of working papers, several of which are under review and/or at the R&R stage.

Candidates should have a PhD (or its equivalent) in Finance or a related field from an accredited institution and be able to provide evidence of prior teaching effectiveness. The position offers a highly competitive package of compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Produce original thought leadership that is visible and positively impacts practice.
• Publish high-quality academic research in premier journals (such as those recognized by The Financial Times).
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Finance in multiple modalities.
• Contribute to the teacher-scholar model by addressing questions of high theoretical, practical, and/or pedagogical importance.
• Educate the whole person, facilitating student acquisition of deep conceptual knowledge, professional competencies, and the development of professional identity and character.
• Serve as an exemplary role model and demonstrate a commitment to teaching courses that develop students and advance knowledge.
• Engage with the marketplace through interaction, research, and ongoing connection to support students in their career trajectories.

Qualifications

• PhD (or its equivalent) in Finance or a related field from an accredited institution.
• At least three years of post-PhD experience (recent PhD graduates or those with fewer than three years of post-PhD experience will not be considered).
• Evidence of prior teaching effectiveness.
• Exceptional record in teaching and scholarship.
• Publications in top-tier finance journals (FT50 outlets preferred).
• Strong pipeline of working papers, with some under review and/or at the R&R stage.
