Responsibilities
Tutors will assist adult learners in achieving their educational goals through one-on-one tutoring sessions. Specific responsibilities include:
- Attending orientation and three session training.
- Be available to tutor 1-2 hours a week.
- Support learners in developing learning plans.
- Attend virtual or in-person training sessions as required.
Requirements
Volunteers must meet the following requirements:
- Attend in-person training or be added to a future training session list.
- Attend orientation on September 8th, 2026.
- Attend training sessions on September 9/17, 9/22 and 9/24, November 11/12, 11/17 and 11/19, February 2/11, 2/16 and 2/18, and April 4/8, 4/13 and 4/15.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a solid command of English and be able to be easily understood.
- Have the ability to communicate clearly.
Qualifications
Volunteers should have:
- A strong commitment to adult education and helping others achieve their educational goals.
- Patience and empathy towards adult learners.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by adult learners and the importance of personalized learning plans.
Skills
Volunteers should possess:
- Strong communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- An understanding of adult learning principles and strategies.
