Admission and Enrollment Specialist

Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads – both students and employers – for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 25,000 students in 2024-25. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions.

About the role

The purpose of this position is to support the Office of Admission and Enrollment Services. The incumbent implements and executes policies and procedures prescribed by the Office of Admissions and Enrollment, including processing applications for admissions, scanning admissions documents, processing registrations and related documents, serving as part of the college-wide recruitment team, and serving as the alternative domicile officer.

Responsibilities

• Process applications for admissions
• Scan admissions documents
• Process registrations and related documents
• Serve as part of the college-wide recruitment team
• Serve as the alternative domicile officer
• Train and support part-time staff and student workers in admissions office functions, including information programs, campus tours, and accurate completion of admissions documents
• Collaborate with campus faculty, staff, and college-wide offices to plan and implement student recruitment and admissions activities
• Organize and maintain files
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor

Requirements

• Knowledge of effective customer service techniques
• Ability to work effectively and communicate with students of diverse backgrounds
• Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge and ability to interpret, apply, and communicate VCCS, FERPA, and college policies and procedures as they relate to admission, enrollment, records, and grades
• Knowledge of recruitment and college matriculation process, especially as applied to community college education
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suites
• Experience in Higher Education

Pay

$35,012 - $42,000, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some evenings and weekends may be required during peak enrollment periods.
