About the Role

With a commitment to patient and family centered care, the Administrative Supervisor serves as the hospital operational oversight leader across all shifts, valuing the uniqueness of each individual and addressing the physiological, emotional, and social needs of the diverse patient population served by Jefferson Health.

The Administrative Supervisor is responsible for facilitating patient movement, staffing, emergency management (both medical and facilities), clinical coordination, and collaboration across all departments. They plan, lead, and coordinate the provision of quality care and service from a hospital-wide perspective. During off-shifts, the Administrative Supervisor functions as the liaison for departments without onsite leadership. In collaboration with administrative directors and managers, they provide leadership, consultation, and collaboration in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson’s values, recognizing patients and their families in providing safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on respect for patient preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs.
  • Display a positive attitude and image to patients, visitors, co-workers, and the community.
  • Communicate with and support the interprofessional team, patients, families, and designated care partners.
  • Serve as a communication liaison for external callers, providing directions or resources to facilitate resolution.
  • Practice within established policies and procedures of Jefferson Health.
  • Provide leadership and direction for operational activities, including efficient coordination of patient movement and flow across the health system to the appropriate level of care in collaboration with unit leadership.
  • Support department leadership in managing clinical excellence and safe patient care delivery to achieve compliance with professional, regulatory, hospital, and department standards, including:
    • Experience of Care/Patient and Family Satisfaction: enforce strategies for sustaining a “patient-centric” culture and communicate patient experience feedback to staff.
    • Colleague commitment and engagement: partner with the Nursing Leadership Team to improve colleague experience and participate in initiatives for professional staff, nursing, and other colleagues.
  • Serve as a point of contact for patients, families, providers, residents, students, departmental personnel, community representatives, nursing staff, and other hospitals within the referral area.
  • Partner with security services and administrative leaders to enforce workforce safety and environment of care strategies for staff, patients, and families.
  • Collaborate with resource management staffing coordinators to ensure optimal deployment of workforce resources, including ongoing review of staffing decisions.
  • Manage workforce scheduling, including:
    • Balancing schedules after self-scheduling is complete.
    • Managing vacation requests and ensuring holiday requirements are met and fairly distributed.
    • Handling last-minute changes due to call-offs or surges in activity.
    • Reconciling MyTime and MySchedule prior to Director sign-off on payroll.
  • Serve as a clinical resource regarding policy and procedures, patient standards, performance improvement, and risk management issues.
  • Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other health professionals to deliver accurate and appropriate messages.
  • Support and contribute to a culture where staff feel appreciated, included, and valued.
  • Facilitate the goals and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the Hospital.
  • Coach and support leaders and staff for continual improvement.
  • Lead education and professional development of the administrative nursing leadership team, including:
    • Ensuring all Annual Mandatory Education modules are completed on time.
    • Identifying opportunities for ongoing education and professional development.
    • Ensuring all licenses and certifications (e.g., CPR, ACLS, HWC) are up to date.
    • Providing regular communication regarding operational changes and time-sensitive information.
  • Coordinate and integrate Supervisors across all three campuses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • 3 years of nursing experience.
  • Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, including conveying respect and collaborating with patients, families, and designated care partners.
  • Cultural awareness: knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and ability to connect effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, including transmitting, receiving, and interpreting ideas, information, and needs accurately.
  • Ability to promote high levels of interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.
  • 1 year of demonstrated leadership and management experience.
  • 1 year of critical care or ER experience.
  • CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse - Adult) certification from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs (e.g., push/pull patients on beds or stretchers requiring 29 lbs. push force, lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight).
  • Frequent to continuous standing/walking (patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift).
  • May be required to perform activities specific to the role, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.

Pay

Salary Range: $99,967.78 to $142,454.09 annually. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive. Positions posted as annual salaries reflect an estimated amount for a 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) (i.e., 40-hour equivalent); positions for less than 1.0 FTE will be prorated.
