About the role

The Administrative Supervisor serves as the hospital operational oversight leader across all shifts, ensuring patient and family-centered care that values individual uniqueness and addresses the physiological, emotional, and social needs of a diverse patient population. This role facilitates patient movement, staffing, emergency management (both medical and facilities), and clinical coordination across all departments. The Administrative Supervisor plans, leads, and coordinates the provision of quality care from a hospital-wide perspective and acts as a liaison for departments without onsite leadership during non-business hours. In collaboration with administrative directors and managers, this role provides leadership and consultation in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff in alignment with Jefferson’s values, displaying professionalism and adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Provides safe, compassionate, and coordinated patient-centered care, respecting individual preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs.
  • Communicates effectively with the interprofessional team, patients, families, and designated care partners; serves as a liaison for external callers by providing directions and resources.
  • Provides leadership and operational direction across departments, coordinating patient movement and flow to the appropriate level of care in collaboration with unit leadership.
  • Supports department leadership in achieving compliance with professional, regulatory, hospital, and departmental standards, promoting clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.
  • Partners with Nursing Leadership to strengthen colleague commitment and engagement through initiatives that support nursing and professional staff.
  • Collaborates with staffing and resource management teams to ensure optimal workforce deployment, including reviewing staffing decisions, schedule balancing, vacation requests, holiday coverage, and payroll reconciliation.
  • Serves as a clinical and operational resource for policies, procedures, patient care standards, performance improvement, and risk management.
  • Leads and supports education and professional development for the administrative nursing leadership team, ensuring compliance with mandatory education, licenses, and certifications.
  • Provides leadership for workforce safety and environment-of-care initiatives in partnership with security and administrative leaders, promoting a culture of inclusion, respect, diversity, and staff appreciation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • 3 years of nursing experience; critical care or ER preferred.
  • Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, including collaborating with patients, families, and designated care partners.
  • Cultural awareness and ability to connect effectively with diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, information, and needs.
  • Ability to promote high levels of interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Active RN license in the State of New Jersey.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.
  • 1 year of demonstrated leadership and management experience.
  • CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
  • NE-BC (Nurse Executive Certification) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
  • At least 8 years of nursing experience as an RN.

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs (e.g., pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers, lateral transfers).
  • Frequent to continuous standing/walking (e.g., patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift).
  • Activities specific to the role may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.

Pay

Hourly salary range: $52.98 to $75.51. The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.

Schedule

Workday Night shift.
