Hybrid Schedule: 3 days on-site, 2 days remote (Monday-Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, occasional additional hours as needed)

About the Role

The Markey Cancer Center is seeking an Administrative Staff Officer II to join the business office team. This position supports the recruitment and retention of staff, serves as the subject matter expert for human resources–related matters within the department, leads faculty and staff development programs, and coordinates the recognition and retention program. The role also provides backup support for payroll, IES, visas, and employee benefits inquiries across all Markey divisions. Additionally, the Administrative Staff Officer II manages all of Markey’s HR team.

Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for departmental human resources–related matters.
  • Lead faculty and staff development programs.
  • Coordinate the recognition and retention program.
  • Provide backup support for payroll, IES, visas, and employee benefits inquiries.
  • Manage Markey’s HR team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience). More information about equivalencies.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Physical ability to lift light objects up to 10 lbs, sit for long periods, and perform repetitive motions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, communication, or a related field.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to embrace and drive change.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, programs, and projects, both independently and in a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Teams).

Pay

$48,214–$79,560 per year.
