Administrative Selection Process
About the Role
Jordan School District offers multiple administrative internship and leadership pathways for aspiring administrators, including Unpaid Administrative Internships, Full-Time Paid Administrative Internships, and Administrative Pool placement, as well as optional Principal interest interviews for current district administrators.
Unpaid Administrative Internship
Application Window: August through June each contract year
Eligibility: Be enrolled in a university administrative and/or leadership program
- Complete Unpaid Administrative Internship application at the provided link
- Placement processing by Human Resources in collaboration with school principals and/or Administrators of Schools
- Placement notification via email with official assignment
- Applicant is responsible for contacting assigned principal for scheduling and assignments
- Placements made by prospective interns will not be honored
- Placements will not be made at the educator's current school location
- Hours must be completed during off-contract time or outside regular school assignments
- Prospective interns from outside Jordan must complete a BCI background check prior to placement
- Fingerprinting available by appointment only; scheduling link provided via email after application submission
- No cost for background check; government-issued photo ID required at appointment
Full-Time Paid Administrative Internship
Application Windows:
- January Interviews: 2026-2027 windows TBD
- February Interviews: 2026-2027 windows TBD
Eligibility: Be enrolled in a university administrative and/or leadership program, OR hold a current in-state or out-of-state administrative license
- Complete Administrative Full-Time Paid Internship application in Frontline
- Provide 3 references: Current Administrative Supervisor, 2nd Administrator with whom you have worked in the last 5 years, and a professional reference with whom you have worked in the last 5 years
- Application will not be processed until all 3 required references are completed and returned
- References receive an email from Mailbot@applitrack.com requesting completion of the Administrative Reference Form
- Video portion of the application is required; ensure links can be viewed by anyone with the link
- Invitation to Interview: May be invited to an interview in January or March; mandatory in-person interview with the Administrative Cabinet; interviews held on Monday or Friday
- Offer and Placement: Notifications made by phone from a member of the Administrative Cabinet
- Candidates who receive a 1-year internship assignment will be invited to apply for and be interviewed in May/November for the Administrative Pool
- Internships are intended to be a one-year placement
- 187-day contract on the Teacher Salary Schedule
- Elementary placements receive 20 additional days; Secondary placements receive 10 additional days
- Internal JSD candidates chosen as an intern have the right to return to a licensed position for which they are qualified at the conclusion of their intern year if not selected for an Administrative placement
Administrative Pool
Application Windows:
- October Interviews: Application opens August 25th and closes September 8th, 2026 at 11:59 P.M.
- January Interviews: Application opens November 18th, 2025 and closes December 3rd, 2026 at 11:59 P.M.
- February Interviews: Application opens January 6th, 2027 and closes January 20th, 2027 at 11:59 P.M.
- April Interviews: Application opens February 18th, 2027 and closes March 4th, 2027 at 11:59 P.M.
Eligibility: Have completed 5 years of experience in education, AND hold a current administrative license/endorsement by August 1st of upcoming contract year
- Complete Administrative Pool application in Frontline
- Provide 3 references: Current Administrative Supervisor, 2nd Administrator with whom you have worked in the last 5 years, and a professional reference with whom you have worked in the last 5 years
- Application will not be processed until all 3 required references are completed and returned
- References receive an email from Mailbot@applitrack.com requesting completion of the Administrative Reference Form
- Video portion of the application is required; ensure links can be viewed by anyone with the link
- Following STEP 1, applicants receive email notification indicating whether they will move to STEP 2; applicants not moving to STEP 2 may reapply during the next school year
- STEP 2: Invitation to Interview - May be invited to an interview in November, January, March, or April depending on completion window; mandatory in-person interview with Administrative Cabinet; interviews held on Monday or Friday
- OPTIONAL STEP 3: Additional Screening - May be scheduled for a 20-minute situational presentation based on a specific topic determined by the Administrative Cabinet; may be completed in person or virtually at Cabinet's discretion
- Offer and Placement: Following STEP 2 or 3, candidates may be accepted into the Administrative Pool; notifications made by phone from a member of the Administrative Cabinet
- Accepted candidates remain in the Administrative Pool for two years and must then reapply
Principal Interest Interview (Current JSD Administrators)
Application Window: Application opens September 14th and closes September 27th, 2026 at 11:59 P.M.
Eligibility: Must be a current director, consultant, or assistant principal with Jordan School District; have not been interviewed for a Principal position in the last four years
- Current JSD administrators serving as director, consultant, or assistant principal are eligible for principal assignment consideration at any time
- Cabinet will conduct an optional interest interview every four years for current administrators in the District
- Complete the application in Frontline
- Notification of Interview: Annual interviews are held in November
