Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) is a State agency located in Hunt Valley, MD, conducting fair and timely hearings for over 30 State agencies across 500 different case types.

About the role

Provide administrative support to the Director of Finance & Administration and other areas, including assisting the Chief Administrative Law Judge. Key duties include investigating and responding to problematic hearing requests, managing incoming and outgoing mail for the Department of Finance & Administration, logging fee payments for hearing requests and miscellaneous fees daily, accounts receivable duties, fleet management, ordering supplies/furniture, and serving as backup for the Office Coordinator. Additional responsibilities include supporting administrative functions within the Department of Human Resources and acting as Maryland Charity Campaign coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and respond to problematic hearing requests
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail for the Department of Finance & Administration
  • Log fee payments for hearing requests and miscellaneous fees daily
  • Perform accounts receivable duties
  • Handle fleet management tasks
  • Order supplies and furniture
  • Serve as backup for the Office Coordinator
  • Support and act as backup for administrative functions within the Department of Human Resources
  • Serve as Maryland Charity Campaign coordinator

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
  • One year of administrative staff or professional work experience
  • One year of accounts receivable experience (selective qualification)

Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience. Candidates may also substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work with independent judgment and analysis on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating, editing, reviewing, and processing correspondence
  • Experience processing incoming and outgoing mail

Licenses and Certifications

Employees assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle must possess a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license.

Pay

Salary range is $56,824 to $60,304 annually, dependent on experience. State salary guidelines apply for current state employees within budgetary allowances.
