About the role
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Administrative Assistant IV, Brain Health Department, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. This position plays a crucial role in managing daily operations, coordinating with faculty, staff, and students, and ensuring smooth workflows across the department.
Responsibilities
- Maintain departmental records
- Organize schedules and travel arrangements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee office procurement, equipment inventory, and key control systems
- Manage department budgets, including grants, philanthropic support, and self-supporting accounts
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the Chair
- Process travel authorizations, expense reports, and honorarium payments
- Reconcile transactions and oversee purchasing activities
- Collaborate with the Dean’s Office and university financial teams
- Support academic and human capital management activities, such as onboarding faculty, staff, and students, managing recruitment and hiring processes, and coordinating participation in neuroscience and School of Medicine programs
- Facilitate compliance with HR policies, prepare grant budgets, and support faculty research initiatives
- Plan and execute department events, such as orientations, graduations, and research meetings
- Contribute to special projects aimed at enhancing departmental operations
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent education
- Four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources
- One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent education
- Four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience

Pay
Grade 29 Step 1, salary $50,153.76. Initial appointments to classified positions typically begin at Step 1 of the assigned grade. A "Step" refers to the specific rate of pay within a grade, as determined by the Division of Human Resources.
