New River Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under a statewide system of 23 community colleges. The college is located on a one-hundred-plus-acre site in Dublin, Virginia, with an instructional site in Christiansburg. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for career technical education and college transfer programs, serving approximately 4,000 students.

About the role

This position manages office functions for the Division of Health Professions, ensuring matters are handled professionally, efficiently, and timely. The role supports the division’s administrative, regulatory, and instructional needs while collaborating with faculty, staff, and college personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strategic documents and course plan files for the division.
  • Create, revise, and maintain program data spreadsheets for accreditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Assist with regulatory reports for accreditation and compliance.
  • Maintain and monitor budgets for all departmental accounts in the division.
  • Maintain health profession student files.
  • Assist the dean with grant proposals.
  • Support the health professions clinical coordinator with duties including reviewing immunization records, tracking student progress, and submitting required student information to clinical affiliate databases.
  • Assist division faculty with instructional needs, such as book orders, securing desk copies and supplies, and monitoring faculty for survey completion and grade submission.
  • Coordinate procurement for items requested by faculty and staff.
  • Assist in credentialing for the division.
  • Plan and coordinate division events.
  • Serve as a liaison to college personnel regarding scheduling and use of facilities.
  • Collaborate with other departmental administrative staff and perform additional duties as assigned by the dean.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in state emergencies.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Work experience in an office setting.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with health profession or health professions student scheduling.
  • Work experience in a team-oriented, health professions, or higher education setting.
  • Proficiency in interpreting clinical compliance data, such as immunization status.
  • Experience with healthcare educational program accreditation processes and requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing health professions programs.
  • Experience assisting with grant proposal writing.
  • Experience composing regulatory and accreditation reports.
  • Knowledge of or experience with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) or comparable systems.

Pay

$39,000–$41,000 per year.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday.
