About The Role The Administrative Assistant position within the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) office is a pivotal role dedicated to supporting the administrative operations that facilitate accessible and equitable educational experiences for students with disabilities. This role involves managing student accommodation applications, coordinating communication across various departments, and ensuring the smooth functioning of office procedures. The individual in this position acts as a central point of contact for students, parents, faculty, and staff, providing exceptional service and support. They will oversee scheduling, records management, and office logistics, contributing to the efficient delivery of disability services. The role requires independent decision-making, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Qualifications High school Diploma or GEDMinimum of 4 years of experience in an administrative support role or related service fieldAssociate's Degree or higher (desired)Experience working with student or client case management software (preferred)Knowledge of University policies and procedures (preferred)Knowledge and familiarity with disability services (preferred)Strong organizational and multitasking skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to handle confidential information with discretionProficiency in word processing and familiarity with Google productsAbility to work effectively with diverse populationsAbility to work in-person at least two days a week (flexibility for hybrid work) Responsibilities Independently receive, review, and process initial contact forms from students, providing guidance on next stepsEnsure accurate and timely processing of disability-related requests in compliance with institutional and federal policiesManage daily calendar schedules for SSD staff, including Assistant Directors, Disability Access Coordinators, and Accommodation SpecialistsReassign student caseloads and adjust appointments as needed to ensure timely service deliveryProcess requests related to temporary injuries and coordinate time-sensitive meetingsAssist with paratransit program support and ridership educationRespond to inquiries via email and phone, directing stakeholders to appropriate resources or escalation pathwaysTrain, onboard, and supervise student staff to ensure consistent and quality serviceManage office supplies, equipment, and vendor relationships, including procurement and budget trackingCoordinate maintenance and technical support with Facilities and ITSOversee records management within case management software, including report generation and file archivingSupport program updates and data tracking related to student services and research initiativesParticipate in campus meetings and contribute to departmental initiatives and community of practice activities Benefits Competitive salary range of $39,650 - $45,600, commensurate with experience and qualificationsComprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance optionsRetirement plan options and financial wellness programsGenerous paid time off including holidays, vacation, and sick leaveOpportunities for professional development and career advancementSupportive work environment committed to diversity and inclusionHybrid work arrangements allowing flexibility for remote and in-office work Equal Opportunity The University of Michigan is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
