Administrative Assistant
Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. Our West Caldwell, NJ facility specializes in industry-leading microwave components and systems for space, defense, and commercial applications, including GPS III satellites. With over 60 years of expertise, our Microwave group supports major military, communications, electronic warfare, radar, and satellite systems.
About the role
The Administrative Assistant will serve as a central support role in a fast-paced operation, providing critical administrative and coordination assistance to the Site Leader and collaborating with functional leaders across manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, sales, marketing, and quality. This position plays a hands-on role in supporting Lean and continuous improvement initiatives while helping to maintain smooth site operations.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and maintain Outlook calendars for assigned groups.
- Coordinate internal and external meetings, including preparation of materials for meetings, appointments, and presentations.
- Arrange complex global and domestic travel, including multi-city itineraries and travel documents (Visas, passports).
- Compile, create, and maintain reports, databases, and charts using software applications.
- Support 5S auditing and improvements in manufacturing and office areas.
- Assist in executing continuous improvement roadmaps, including:
- Pre-work: time observations, cell/bench design, material planning, data gathering, and logistical support.
- Kaizen, Just-Do-It, and project support.
- Post-event follow-up: ownership or support of closing out actions from continuous improvement events.
- Handle general event administration, including updating newspapers, report-out presentations, and team sites.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of administrative support experience.
- 2–4 years of experience using Lean tools.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong customer service, interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently with a proactive approach.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information; only US Persons will be considered.
- As a US Department of Defense contractor, selected applicants may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (ITAR compliance).
Working Conditions
- Standard office environment with substantial visual concentration.
- Exposure to normal manufacturing conditions, including loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes.
- May require use of safety equipment such as glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protection, heel/wrist straps, and other PPE.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: approximately 5% of the time.
- Sitting: approximately 95% of the time.
- Lifting: up to 10 pounds.
- Pushing: up to 10 pounds.
- Mental/Visual: frequent use of computer and office equipment.
- Workspace: standard work desk.

Pay
Salary range: $31.11 - $38.51 per hour. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience, skills, training, and qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for performance-based bonus programs.
