Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, providing comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties.
About the role
The Administrative Assistant shall be primarily responsible for assisting the leader with the organization and implementation of day-to-day activities, performing clerical and other administrative duties. This individual shall demonstrate knowledge and understanding of organizational skills, clerical skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Perform projects such as administrative reports, preparation and maintenance of confidential files
- Attendance at medical staff and other key hospital executive staff meetings
- Ordering of supplies, typing, data entry, and management of the office calendar
- Additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Business School Graduate preferred
- At least 3 years or greater hospital experience preferred
- At least 2 years clerical experience required
Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and computer experience
- Strong communication and customer relation skills
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Work Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Position requires sitting for 80% of the workday and mobility 20% of the workday
- Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
- Frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds
- Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person
- Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range
- Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
- Minimal noise levels
- Much exposure to computer work
- Busy environment with many interruptions and distractions
- Multiple tasks must be performed simultaneously
- Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock
- Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks
- Some exposure to hazardous chemicals
- Occasional exposure to radiation
