Adjunct Instructor, Emergency Medical Science

About the role

Wake Technical Community College is seeking part-time faculty to teach Emergency Medical Science classes. Positions may or may not be available at this time.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
• Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
• Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
• Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
• Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
• Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
• Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
• Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
• Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
• Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
• Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom
• Attends professional development opportunities when possible

Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors and staff
• Working knowledge of MS Office products
• Knowledge of Blackboard (an online Learning Management System) is preferred

Certification

• Credentialed as a North Carolina Paramedic or as a National Registry Paramedic

Experience

• Two years of full time or part time experience teaching in post-secondary educational environment
• Experience instructing students as a preceptor
• Experience as a training officer
