Essential Job Duties
- Provide quality instruction which is reflective of current discipline standards and is accurate, relevant, and engaging using college-approved curriculum and resources.
- Aid in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum to support program outcomes and accreditation requirements.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of course outlines using approved course descriptions, learning outcomes, and program objectives.
- Actively engage and interact with students using intentional best practice teaching strategies.
- Plan and prepare the learning environment with needed materials and supplies.
- Communicate and collaborate with full-time instructors in creating and implementing course curriculum, objectives and materials.
- Present course content in an unbiased and civil manner, while demonstrating respect, helpfulness, and responsiveness toward students.
- Demonstrate professional conduct, positive attitude, and supportive culture.
- Maintain appropriate record keeping for assigned classes to include student attendance, record of grades earned, and other related classroom information.
- Uphold departmental policy and expectations.
- Maintain confidentiality of students, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members, as well as records and all information.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Achieve an Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning (or ability to complete an associate degree within six months of hire).
- Hold FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant aircraft mechanic certificates.
- Show knowledge of current practices that promote safety in aviation maintenance.
- Show three years of relevant work experience in the aviation maintenance industry or a related field.
- Show ability to diagnose and repair defects in aircraft and equipment.
- Show current knowledge in course content and effectiveness in teaching assigned subjects.
- Show ability to work without direct supervision and able to use discretion to determine the need for administrative involvement.
- Show ability to work well with others.
- Show strong oral and written communication skills.
- Show ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Obtain a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Hold FAA Aircraft Mechanic Certifications in both Airframe and Powerplant.
- Show recent experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or instructing in aircraft airframe systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, environmental control, pressurization, and auxiliary systems.
- Show electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Show experience working on avionics technology.
- Show FAA Private Pilot Certification or higher-level pilot credential.
- Show Basic Ground Instructor (BGI) or Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) Certification.
- Show leadership or managerial experience.
- Show participation in professional organizations related to teaching area.
- Show teaching experience in the career and technical education field.
- Show knowledge of Learning Management Systems (such as Canvas).
- Show experience working within a collegiate setting.
