Position: Adjunct Faculty Pool - Multiple Positions

About the role

The Department of Adult & Online Education at Campbell University is seeking adjunct instructors to teach courses in Information Technology, Criminal Justice, Spanish, Clinical Research, and Communication. The positions are primarily for in-person teaching at correctional facilities and military bases, with some online components.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage course materials based on learning objectives and textbooks provided by the department chair.
  • Conduct courses through remote/synchronous means using platforms like Blackboard Ultra, Zoom, Teams, etc., and in-person instruction as needed.
  • Select and administer tests, assignments, and online discussion exercises to measure student performance against course learning objectives.
  • Evaluate and assess student performance and post grades on the Blackboard Grade Center and Campbell’s Self-Service portal.
  • Maintain professional communications with students and staff, responding to emails and requests within 24 hours.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including Title IX, FERPA, and other state and federal guidelines.
  • Perform other job-related duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Possess a graduate degree (minimum 18 graduate hours from a regionally accredited university) in one or more of the specified fields.
  • Complete Campbell University’s Powell training before teaching begins.
  • Have teaching experience in traditional and/or online education.
  • Have experience working with adult students and the Blackboard learning management system.
  • Have industry experience.
  • Be able to travel to the main campus at Buies Creek, N.C. for interviews and training sessions.
  • Have experience in a higher education or non-profit sector.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written channels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with various groups.
  • Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.
  • Manage multiple, concurrent projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Show detail-oriented skills and willingness to work in a changing environment.
  • Display accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work with the Christian mission of Campbell University.
