About the Role

Adjunct faculty members at Colorado Mountain College assist students in their learning process by utilizing available staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. The role emphasizes facilitating learning, scholarly endeavors, and service activities to support student success. The college focuses on excellence in teaching and learning in diverse classroom settings and programs, prioritizing dynamic classroom experiences and strong academic outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses and evaluate student learning.
  • Develop and submit course outlines, syllabi, and measurable course objectives.
  • Maintain accurate course records and complete required forms.
  • Hold office hours and provide student consultation.
  • Assist with advising, orientation, registration, and student recruitment.
  • Engage in scholarly and creative activities to enhance discipline expertise and learning.
  • Participate in service activities, including campus and college committees, assessment, program review, and mentoring peers.
  • Represent the college professionally in the community and district.
  • Engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
  • Adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College.
  • Perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in the specific field for the position or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in a related field (e.g., business, finance, management, or marketing for business positions).
  • One year of full-time teaching experience or equivalent adjunct teaching experience; higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong background in computers and technology, with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, research, analyze data, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
  • Must perform assigned duties within the State of Colorado and accurately report work location.
  • Not eligible for visa sponsorship; must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Skills

  • Knowledge of pedagogy and at least two years of teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in general office skills (filing, typing, customer service).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle records report (when applicable).
  • May require travel and evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Supervision of student employees may be required.

Working Conditions

  • Constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving.
  • Occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands/arms, reaching, and finger movements.
  • Constant written and oral communication; occasional reasoning, analysis, and calculations.
  • Daily use of a computer and standard office equipment.
