About the Role

As an Adjunct Faculty member at ACE, you will maintain a strong academic presence and growth in professional development for teaching, scholarly or creative works, and service to the profession and college. You will report directly to the department chair, who provides guidance on academic responsibilities, service to students and the college, and professional development.

Responsibilities

Academic and Teaching Responsibilities

  • Interact directly with students in a professional manner to support and enhance the learning experience.
  • Facilitate a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Respond promptly to student requests for information, clarification, and personal queries; contact inactive students as needed.
  • Oversee course quality by reviewing functionality and content to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Enhance the student experience by incorporating unique personal insights or professional knowledge into course content.
  • Monitor and provide timely, appropriate feedback on student assignments within college policies.
  • Synthesize and report student performance data in a timely manner.

Service to Students, Department, College, and Community

  • Support the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the program and institution.
  • Educate students on ethical conduct, particularly regarding plagiarism and copyright infringement; follow procedures for reporting infractions.
  • Direct students to supplemental resources to enhance their skills and abilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and leadership, including attending required meetings.
  • Promote the vision, mission, and culture of the college within and beyond the institution.
  • Provide leadership within your sphere of influence.

Professional Development

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of curricula and industry through workshops, seminars, professional publications, networking, and participation in professional societies.
  • Stay informed about emerging issues and trends related to the department.
  • Support and promote research to ensure the quality of program and course offerings.

Requirements

  • Earned terminal degree in a field associated with the department (e.g., ESL/BL, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Literacy, Special Education).
  • Minimum of 3 peer-reviewed professional publications and presentations (Doctoral Teaching & Learning).
  • 1+ years of experience teaching in a formal educational setting, with higher education strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully developing online/virtual professional relationships.
  • Evidence of professional research, creative endeavors, and expertise in the field.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and efficient in proposing solutions to complex problems.
  • Collaborative team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to ACE’s Impact mission to improve communities through civic engagement initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and adapt to tight deadlines.
  • Passion for helping students achieve their educational goals.
  • Comfortable working remotely and collaborating in a virtual environment.

Pay

Adjunct faculty are paid per student per course: $50 per student at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, and $126 per student at the doctorate level. Additional opportunities include serving on paid committees and receiving payment for course writing and development.
