About the role
The position involves teaching the AC and DC Electronics class within the Natural Gas Technician program.
Responsibilities
- Teach basic lessons in AC and DC Electronics
- Define industry-specific acronyms and electrical units like Ampere, Voltage, and Ohms
- Explain the function of protons, electrons, and neutrons in electricity
- Teach standard unit prefixes such as Deci, Centi, Milli, Micro, Nano, and Pico
- Teach and wire DC circuits focusing on resistor identification, Ohm's law, Watt's law, and Kirchhoff's law
- Conduct classroom exercises calculating circuits at the desk and then wiring them on a breadboard
- Teach and wire series and parallel circuits, the Wheatstone Bridge, and AC circuits including Sine waves, frequency generators, capacitor formulas, inductor formulas, transformer formulas, and RLC formulas
- Teach and wire capacitor and inductor circuits in labs
- Use a scientific calculator and teach students how to use it for specific calculations
- Use a combination of written quizzes/tests and overhead visual instruction
Requirements
- Work experience with appropriate certifications representing industry standards
- A Bachelor’s degree, though not required, is preferred with training experience and/or experience with post-secondary education
Qualifications
- Must have knowledge of Series and Parallel Circuits
- Must be able to use a scientific calculator and teach students how to use it for specific calculations
Skills
- Ability to teach basic electronics concepts
- Knowledge of electrical units and industry-specific terminology
- Experience with circuit design and testing
- Ability to use a scientific calculator for specific calculations
