About the Role

Ivy Tech Evansville seeks an Electric Line Technology Adjunct Instructor to provide engaging instruction in all delivery methods and formats within the Electric Line Technology program. Students will study electrical principles required for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting power lines, as well as transformers, grounding, protective equipment, climbing techniques and tools, and rigging. Graduates may pursue careers as Electric Linemen or journeyman line workers.

Candidates must be able to provide in-person instruction at the Evansville, IN campus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide a syllabus appropriate to the course(s) being taught and follow its content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submit requested information within established timelines.
  • Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance.
  • Address student concerns and, if necessary, consult with the program coordinator to resolve issues.
  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
  • Use technology such as Blackboard, Canva, and PowerPoint as appropriate.
  • Notify the program/department chair in the event of an emergency absence.
  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Journeyperson line worker card.
  • At least five years of field experience.
  • Baccalaureate degree, or higher, in technology, engineering, engineering technology, or a degree directly related to the program’s discipline.
  • Must be available to teach in person on the Evansville, IN campus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing instruction at a post-secondary institution.

Pay

$45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course).

Schedule

Classes run on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:50 PM, starting in the August term. Adjunct faculty positions typically begin at the start of semesters or midpoints (January, March, August, or October). Specific hours depend on class assignments but may include evenings.
