Adjunct Faculty - Engineering Technology
About the role
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided; facilitating student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives; making optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods; developing/maintaining course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials; maintaining accurate student records, grades, and other requirements; engaging with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leading to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College; showing evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning; interacting with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner; complying with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations; ensuring knowledge of and implementing emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning.
- Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner.
- Comply with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
- Ensure knowledge of and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
Requirements
- A qualified faculty member in engineering technology must have an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.
- Meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
