Adjunct Faculty/HVACR

Westchester Community College was founded in 1946 as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in White Plains. In 1957, the County of Westchester bought the 360-acre John Hartford estate in Valhalla and designated 218 acres for the community college. About the role

SUNY Westchester Community College seeks a knowledgeable and engaging Adjunct Instructor to teach NCCER-accredited (National Center for Construction Education & Research) HVACR and EPA curriculum within the Division of Workforce Development, at the Mount Vernon Center. This position supports the College's workforce development mission by preparing students with the technical knowledge, hands-on skills, and industry-recognized credentials needed for employment and career advancement in the HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning And Refrigeration) industry.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction, foster an active and supportive learning environment, and effectively engage a diverse population of adult and workforce learners. Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with HVACR systems, processes, and equipment.
• Successful completion of NCCER Instructor Certification Training.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience at the journey- or licensed technician-level in HVACR, or a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a certified instructor in a vocational/technical HVAC training program, consistent with NCCER instructor eligibility requirements.
• Effective instructional practices and ability to engage students through active, student-centered learning.
• Proficiency in integrating instructional technology.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports a diverse population of adult learners.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous instructional experience in a high school, community college, apprenticeship, adult education, or workforce development setting.
• Current NCCER Instructor Certification and EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
• Strong commitment to teaching excellence, workforce readiness, student success, and the mission of a community college.
• Ability to effectively support learners from diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds.

Pay

$93.84 per hour. No benefits.
