About the role
OSUIT Workforce & Economic Development is seeking a highly skilled and industry-experienced HVAC Instructor to deliver a 10-week, non-credit Industrial HVAC Systems Technologies upskilling program.
Responsibilities
- Lead hands-on, evening instruction focused on advanced HVAC system operation, controls, electrical integration, and energy-efficient practices.
- Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction aligned with program curriculum.
- Teach advanced HVAC concepts including: Industrial cooling systems (chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units), Advanced refrigeration and controls (VRF systems, automation), Electrical systems and troubleshooting (motors, drives, PLC basics), Airflow management and environmental controls, Energy efficiency and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Demonstrate and enforce OSHA and NFPA 70E safety practices, including PPE and lockout/tagout.
- Facilitate lab activities and real-world simulations.
- Assess learning through quizzes, skills demonstrations, and final competency evaluations.
- Support learners in developing job-ready technical skills for mission-critical environments.
Qualifications
- Education Required: High School/GED required, Associate’s degree from an accredited university or college, or certification from an industry recognized technical training program preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of industry experience in HVAC systems, preferably in industrial or mission-critical environments, Strong knowledge of large-scale HVAC systems, controls, and electrical components, Experience with troubleshooting and system diagnostics, Familiarity with OSHA standards and electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E).
