Adjunct Faculty in Art

Location: Hattiesburg, Mississippi (118 College Drive, Hattiesburg, MS 39406-0001). Part-time, adjunct faculty position with assignments based on applicant expertise and program needs. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

About the Role

This position instructs in areas within the Art and Design program, including but not limited to design, painting, drawing, art history, graphic design, sculpture, and Art Appreciation. Courses needing adjunct instruction vary by semester.

Responsibilities

• Instruction of assigned classes.
• Provide interim and final grades for enrolled students.
• Provide data for General Education Curriculum assessment based on student achievement in the course as needed.
• Be available to students through office hours (face-to-face or virtual).
• Be responsive to students and director/staff via USM email.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• MFA in Art or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Knowledge of the history of art and its influence on culture (for Art Appreciation courses) and/or studio practices (for studio courses).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching in higher education, including online platforms.
