About the Role

The adjunct faculty members of Colorado Mountain College assist students in their learning process by utilizing available resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. Faculty are committed to facilitating learning throughout the college's communities and engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities to support learners. The college seeks innovative educators passionate about extending academic opportunities to all students, focusing on excellence in teaching and learning in diverse classroom settings and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses and evaluate student learning.
  • Develop and submit course outlines, syllabi, and measurable course objectives.
  • Maintain accurate course records and complete required forms.
  • Hold office hours and assist with student advising, orientation, and registration.
  • Engage in scholarly and creative activities to enhance discipline expertise and learning.
  • Participate in service activities, including campus and college committees, assessment, program review, and student organizations.
  • Prepare lesson plans aligned with approved course objectives.
  • Develop professional rapport with students and staff to encourage communication.
  • Assist in student recruitment and curriculum evaluation as appropriate.
  • Represent the college professionally in the community and district.
  • Engage in professional development required for credentialing.
  • Supervise student employees when applicable.
  • Adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in the specific field for the position or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in a related field (e.g., business, finance, management, or marketing for business positions).
  • Minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience or equivalent adjunct experience; higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong background in computers and technology, with excellent organizational and office skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and research effectively.
  • Knowledge of pedagogy and at least two years of teaching experience.
  • Commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of diverse backgrounds.
  • Must perform assigned duties within the State of Colorado and accurately report work location.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational abilities in another language.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle records report (if applicable).
  • May require travel and evening/weekend hours.

Working Conditions

  • Constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving.
  • Occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands/arms for reaching and finger movements.
  • Daily use of computers and standard office equipment.
  • Constant written and oral communication, with occasional analytical and calculation tasks.
