JOB SUMMARY
The University of Saint Francis promotes and celebrates the Catholic and Franciscan mission and values of the institution. The Business Law adjunct faculty member must have expertise in U.S. legal and government systems, the role of the law in the business environment, business law concepts, and conflict resolution.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Reviewing the course prior to being published and suggesting any needed improvements.
- Regularly posting announcements to keep students informed.
- Responding to student or other Saint Francis communications in a timely manner.
- Actively engaging with students via discussion forums, email, and/or optional synchronous sessions.
- Grading assignments in a timely manner and providing detailed feedback.
Faculty Responsibilities/Activities
- Adhering to all university academic and employment policies.
- Participating in assessment of curriculum in coordination with the Graduate Business Programs Director.
- Attending adjunct meetings as requested.
- Respecting the moral and religious beliefs of the university and students; using discretion when expressing personal beliefs and views.
- Actively contributing to the Catholic and Franciscan mission and values of the university.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: J.D., or a PhD. or DBA within a business law emphasis preferred; a graduate degree, work experience or teaching experience in Law, or related field, and the ability to teach ethics and law in an applied format.
- Experience: Prior post-secondary teaching experience preferred; five years’ professional experience within the discipline preferred.
- Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates competence in educational principles, instructional methods, evaluation techniques and technology used in higher education classrooms, laboratory and clinical settings; demonstrates knowledge of the profession including theory and practice, procedures, and regulations; demonstrates proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community; demonstrates skill in goal setting and team building; demonstrates analytical and organizational skills to plan, implement, and evaluate program activities; demonstrates honesty and loyalty to the University and support its mission and religious affiliation; demonstrates ability to coordinate services to the needs of diverse populations within the time and financial limits of the institution.
- Other: Must be willing to work irregular, and sometimes long hours, including weekends and university breaks.
