About the role

The LACCD is accepting applications for part-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor positions for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting establishes a pool of qualified applicants for future openings across its nine colleges. Applicants may indicate their preferred college locations during the application process. Final assignments are contingent upon enrollment, funding, and class availability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment, or
  • Associate’s degree and six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.
  • Current license as a Physician, Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Paramedic in California, or certification as an Advanced EMT or EMT in California.
  • At least two years of academic or clinical experience in emergency medicine within the last five years.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct EMT theory and skills courses in accordance with the established course outline of record, using methodologies such as lecture, discussion, and demonstrations.
  • Integrate industry experience with classroom teaching to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Assess and document Student Learning Outcomes for the course.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards, including cultural responsiveness in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Stay current with Emergency Medical Services guidelines and practices.

Eligibility Requirement

All employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption, in compliance with LACCD Board of Trustees’ Policy 2900.

Pay

Adjunct instructors are compensated at a starting rate of $86.85 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.31 per hour for classroom assignments. A doctoral differential is available for applicants with a doctoral degree.
