Adjunct - AY27 Basic Skills, Mathematics Non-Credit

About the role

The LACCD is accepting applications for Noncredit Basic Skills Mathematics Instructor positions for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting establishes a pool of qualified applicants for part-time adjunct faculty roles across its nine colleges. Assignments are contingent upon enrollment, funding, and class availability. Applicants may indicate their preferred college locations during the application process.

LACCD seeks dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates committed to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population. Faculty may be required to teach in virtual, hybrid, or hyflex modalities using Canvas or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Teach a range of Noncredit Math-related courses within the Basic Skills discipline.
• Promote engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
• Demonstrate cultural responsiveness in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds, languages, nationalities, ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities, and educational experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students.
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption, as required by LACCD Board of Trustees Policy 2900.

Qualifications

• California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter.
• Bilingual Certificate from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
• Experience designing and contextualizing Math competencies through workforce-aligned materials for industries such as Construction, Culinary, STEM, Business, and other Career Sectors.
• Experience teaching Adult Basic Education (Grades 1-8), Adult Secondary Education (Grades 9-12), or GED preparation.
• Familiarity with Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) Testing or Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) Testing.
• Experience with competency-based skills development and remediation.
• Experience teaching specialized populations, including Dual Enrollment, Justice-Involved, Foster or Court-Impacted Youth, LGBTQ, speakers of other languages, undocumented students, and individuals with different learning abilities.
• Certification in Canvas or other online teaching modalities (preferred).

Pay

The salary for adjunct noncredit instructors begins at $81.81 per standard hour.
