About the role

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) seeks dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time Mathematics Instructor positions for the 2026 Academic School Year. This posting aims to create a pool of qualified applicants for future openings across LACCD's nine colleges.

Responsibilities

  • Teach any Mathematics courses offered, fostering engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
  • Collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Engage with a diverse range of students, including those from various academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas or other methods of remote learning.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in mathematics or applied mathematics OR Bachelor's degree in either of the above and Master's degree in statistics, physics, or mathematics education OR equivalent.
  • A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Qualifications

  • Health & COVID 19 Vaccination: A medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students is required at the applicant's expense after selection from an eligible list and prior to employment.
  • Eligibility Requirement: All students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption.

Skills

Preference may be given to applicants with demonstrated certification in Blackboard, Canvas, or Course Compass or other online modalities.

Pay

$89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
