About the role

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions in Labor Studies. These positions aim to engage and educate students, collaborating, communicating, and working professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Teach any of the Labor Studies Discipline offered at LACCD colleges.
  • Promote engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and maintain effective teaching strategies.
  • Participate in department meetings and committees as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in any field AND two (2) years of full-time related professional experience.
  • Associate degree in any field AND six (6) years of full-time related professional experience.
  • Professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment.
  • A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Labor Studies or a closely related field preferred.
  • Experience teaching Labor Studies at the community college level.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of current labor issues and trends.
  • Experience with technology integration in the classroom.

Benefits

Adjunct instructors at LACCD receive a competitive salary starting at $89.72 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
