Adjunct Assistant/Associate/Professor (Open Rank): Professional Development - Leading with Community and Culture in Context
About the role
The mission of the USC Rossier School of Education is to prepare leaders to achieve educational equity through practice, research, and policy. We work to improve learning opportunities and outcomes in urban settings and to address disparities that affect historically marginalized groups. We teach our students to value and respect the cultural context of the communities in which they work and to interrogate the systems of power that shape policies and practices. Through innovative thinking and research, we strive to solve the most intractable educational problems.
Responsibilities
- Prepare candidates with leadership skills to create a positive learning culture to promote the academic and success of all students.
- Examine candidates' own values and beliefs as they pertain to their own cultural awareness, knowledge, and competence.
- Learn how these beliefs and values set the tone for a culture of high expectations for all students, with a focus on students most underserved by current educational systems.
- Discuss strategies to build leadership strengths to promote a school culture that ensures the academic success of all students.
- Teach in an online synchronous setting, for a period of fifteen (15) weeks, one night per week for two (2) hours (synchronous), using the USC Rossier Office for Professional Development online platform.
- Present, describe, and assign course assignments.
- Maintain regular communication with students.
- Complete numerical grade points for each assignment and assign a final grade for the course in D2L.
- Make recommendations for improvement to the program administrator at term end.
Requirements
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience at a public school site as a district leader, acting principal, and/or superintendent.
- A Doctor of Education (Ed.D) or PhD.
- Experience with teaching and learning, including staff supervision and evaluation, with extensive knowledge and experience in evaluating teaching data-driven decision-making, leadership, communication, and research-based pedagogy.
- A California Clear Administrative Credential.
- Skilled in using a Learning Management System and teaching online.
- Access to a computer with Internet, microphone, and camera for all online sessions.
- Experience in teaching online using Adobe Connect is a plus.
Qualifications
- Base salary range for this position is $7,457- $9,587 per course.
