About the role

The mission of the USC Rossier School of Education is to prepare leaders to achieve educational equity through practice, research, and policy. We work to improve learning opportunities and outcomes in urban settings and to address disparities that affect historically marginalized groups. We teach our students to value and respect the cultural context of the communities in which they work and to interrogate the systems of power that shape policies and practices. Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional and subject matter expertise to prepare participants to highlight their roles as instructional leaders for the schools in which they serve.
  • Using an inquiry approach, students will be practicing skills related to building individual teacher effectiveness.
  • Reading, viewing, and reflection will be a key component of the instructional design with critical reflection on implementing a curriculum and evidence-based pedagogy that provides equitable opportunities to learn for culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse student groups.
  • Guide students to develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions to observe, provide feedback, and evaluate instruction with a focus on student learning and well-being.
  • Guide candidates on how to support teachers in participating fully in a culture of continuous improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Instruction will be provided in an online synchronous setting, for a period of fifteen (15) weeks, one night per week for two (2) hours (synchronous), using the USC Rossier Office for Professional Development online platform.
  • Responsible for presenting, describing, and assigning course assignments, maintaining regular communication with students, completing numerical grade points for each assignment, and assigning a final grade for the course in D2L.
  • Making recommendations for improvement to the program administrator at term end.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience at a public school site as a district leader, acting principal and/or superintendent.
  • A Doctor of Education (Ed.D) or PhD.
  • Experience with teaching and learning, including staff supervision and evaluation, with extensive knowledge and experience in evaluating teaching data-driven decision-making, leadership, communication, and research-based pedagogy.
  • Skills in using a Learning Management System and teaching online.
  • Access to a computer with Internet, microphone, and camera for all online sessions.
  • Experience in teaching online using Adobe Connect is a plus.

Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Education (Ed.D) or PhD.

Skills

  • Experience with teaching and learning, including staff supervision and evaluation, with extensive knowledge and experience in evaluating teaching data-driven decision-making, leadership, communication, and research-based pedagogy.
  • Skills in using a Learning Management System and teaching online.
  • Experience in teaching online using Adobe Connect is a plus.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $7,457- $9,587 per course.

Schedule
